Montmartre Museum : the heart of Bohemian Paris
Montmartre Museum gives you the uncanny sensation of stepping back in time into the glory days of this Bohemian quarter of Paris situated upon the famous 130 metre high hill of Montmartre, with its village atmosphere and rich cultural and artistic tradition. The museum is housed in Rosimond House, a building full of character, a beautifully preserved 17th century abbey which had been the dwelling place of such legendary figures of the arts world as Vincent van Gogh, Erik Satie, Maurice Utrillo and August Renoir, who had a workshop here. The history of Montmartre comes to vivid life via documents, artifacts and art in this charming little museum within easy reach of the Hotel de la Vallee.
