Monumenta hosting Buren for the 2012 event – Hotel de la Vallée Paris
Established in 2007, Monumenta is an annual event that focuses on a famous contemporary artist. Daniel Buren is in the limelight for the 2012 event. From May 10th through June 21st, the prestigious French artist will be exhibiting at the Grand Palais nave in Paris. The exhibition features new works that were specially created for this major event.
Monumenta : a challenge for internationally-renowned artists

Each year on the occasion of the Monumenta event, the works of a renowned contemporary artist are displayed in the nave at the Grand Palais. This event is put on by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, providing artists with an opportunity to rise to the challenge of transforming this grandiose site. The event is also an educational opportunity for schoolchildren, high school and university students.
The 2012 Monumenta event is dedicated to a globally-renowned French artist: Daniel Buren. The artist’s monumental works have already been exhibited at many venues, in order to raise public awareness about contemporary art. The Grand Palais will be hosting the artist’s work and new project in response to this major challenge through June 21st.
